Nuck81Dec 28, 12:33 AMGoing through this tonight actually. I am changing out the HDD in my PS3.

I had to partition off a section of my External HDD and format it to FAT. As soon as I plugged it into the PS3 it recognized it and let me start the backup process. Took it about an hour and a half to backup.

Swapped HDD and am now in the process of putting my backup onto the new HDD. It is a MUCH slower process, it cooked through the first 55% in about 45 minutes but it's taken over an hour to go from 55% to 64%. I assume it has hit the game installs and it's just a lot of info to process and write...

I sure as heck hope they release the new MBPs (if they are announced) the same day, because I've been waiting to get my new laptop long enough as it is. I would hate for Steve to announce them and say wait 2 weeks for them. One word: TORTURE.

If he doesn't announce anything on MBPs at all, then I'm not waiting any further than Macworld, and if he does, I suppose I'll wait till when that's actually released, again, hoping its another immediate release.

For example, my AirPort Extreme basestation is secured by WPA, then my Mac mini connects to that network, and then in turn creates a wireless network of it's own, that's secured by WEP. Is this possible? And if so, how do I do this? Thanks.

It sounds like you want a home automation system integrated with a computerized home security system. Some systems will do both, but not always, so you have to shop sensibly.

Starting from nothing at all, you should expect to spend at least a few hundred dollars to get started. If you already have something installed, such as sensors or controlled outlets or devices, the cost may be less. It depends on how well what you have can connect to the overall system architecture.

Im afraid windows overwrote macOS, to be honest im boiling right now because im terrified all my schoolwork, files, photo and everything is gone if i try to reinstall macOS. mrcam216Apr 22, 10:43 AMHello guys and gals! I have a question. I'm sort of new to aperture 3. Have been using it for about 4 months now and I love it. But here is my question. I have a 2010 macbook pro 13 inch. (Bought it in jan used for $825 and I freakin love it!). But I have put the master raw pictures from my DSLR just anywhere on my cpu. Desktop, different folders etc. So now I only have about 30 GB's of space on my hard drive. So now I have an external hard drive and figured out that I can have the previews on aperture and just hook up the hard drive to the cpu to edit the pictures. This is a good idea going forward but my question is how can i get the pictures that are on my desktop folders to my external hard drive and have aperture be able to see where they are located. Now when i try to move them, I get like an error message in the picture in aperture basically stating that it does not know where the master picture is at. I don't want to just move them and re import them into aperture because i've edited a lot of pictures and do not want to have to re-edit them. Any advice on how to move them and have aperture find where I've moved them too while keeping the edited pictures in aperture? I hope i'm not confusing any of yawl by this long question and i very much appreciate the help!

coltonjleeApr 12, 04:47 PMYeah I have a 23 inch cinema display that I will be hooking up to the laptop.

I guess the real question is whether I really need the power of the 15 inch if i will only be doing rough cuts while at school. Maybe the 13in will suffice? Only disadvantage is lack of graphics card for motion and color. I really do like the portability of the 13. I can always buy an iMac later on when I make some more cash off video work.

In line with most of the suggestions on this forum I've securely wiped the drive and done a re-install but have hit a problem.

The machine came with OS X 10.4 Tiger but I've since upgraded it to Leopard then Snow Leopard.

Ideally I'd like to give the new owner the new MacBook experience with the spinning Welcome text but I'd also like to stick them on the latest Snow Leopard.
The problem is, when I do a fresh install of Snow Leopard the machine won't have the iLife applications (they are on the original Tiger install disks).

Is there a way I can get the iLife apps on there without needing to set up an account on the machine?

If not, what's the best thing to do?
Setting up an account is something I'd rather not do (I know I'd be annoyed if I bought a second-hand MacBook and it already had an account on it).
On the other hand installing Tiger and giving them the upgrade disks also seems a bit poor too.

Any suggestions please?

UniProApr 23, 12:45 PMIf you're just wanting to sync smaller files like documents I suggest using dropbox. That's what I use and it works great.
