gtmacApr 21, 10:35 PMThat signals to me that you may have synced his apps on to your iPad. Therefore when the AppStore show that it has updates available, it will update your apps (after logging in) and when it attempts to update the other apps (it requires his/hers account log in info as well. Happened to me before and the only way i found to get rid of that annoyance is to uninstall those apps and redownload them while you are logged into your account.

KumiMay 1, 09:47 PMHey Kumi, I panicked too the first time I saw that feature (which has both the ability to be extremely useful or terribly damaging haha).

The solution is quite simple really, you just have to scroll to the top of the contact's conversation from which you want to delete the pics, choose 'Edit', and then 'Clear All'. This will delete ALL your conversation history with that contact from the WhatsApp servers, so if there's any special memento (ahem...) you wish to save, make sure to email yourself the chat history first (Settings -> Email chat history).

Carcassonne, Flight Control, Dungeon Defenders, Disc Drivin, Reckless racing, Depict, Even Fruit Ninja and doodle jump have online MP now. And this list is endless. If you are into board games, there are dozens of Reiner knizia games with online MP.

The ones I've spent a lot of time playing are Disc Drivin (Even 'THE' Arnold Kim loves this game, what else could you ask for eh?) and Carcassonne (a lil expensive but worth every penny).

We had an office powercut a few days ago and since then two of our MacBook Airs are unable to connect to the Airport Extreme base station wirelessly.

The WiFi is definitely working as several other machines (a mixture of MacBook Pro and Windows 7 Dell's) are able to connect wirelessly to it.

The two Airs are able to see the network, but are unable to get an IP address. I've tried re-entering the password, checking the encryption type, renewing the DHCP leases, restarting the base station AND the Airs. Nothing seems to work though.

We're using a linux based DHCP server to dish out IP's, and I've tried deleting the leases for the respective MAC addresses and restarting DHCP, but they are still unable to pick up an IP address.

Any ideas what to try next?

Powerbook G5Sep 19, 11:34 PMAlthough I have no firsthand experience, I've heard that the Linksys wireless-G router/4 port switch unit is pretty good both with distance and mixed networking. At home we have a Mac/PC network with 4 computers with a wired Linksys and it works pretty well. You can get one for half as much as the APE station at about $120 and you can connect through ethernet with it as well.

Hopefully the other 2011 models will soon follow. I had a suspicion it would be soon since the MBP no longer have the "new" icon when you enter the store.

For cleaning your new processors and getting old thermal paste off, ArctiClean is excellent - a few cotton buds will make quick work of old paste.

Why isit that you will skip vga?

VGA is outdated, and DVI/HDMI are better equipped to handle higher resolutions. VGA is an analog signal. HDMI is a digital signal. There is much greater risk for signal degradation, particularly with a long cable, with VGA than HDMI.

it really depends on your local apple store and the level of customer service they have. Some do out of warranty repairs like plastic damage that isn't normally covered under warranty while others are really strict with not doing any user-damage repairs even if still under warranty

wywern209Apr 21, 09:39 PMBusted woofer surrounds sound like cracking and flapping on loud bass. Blown tweeters just don't work and make the speaker sound muddy. I'm not sure what hissing is. Could be an amp issue. Try switching speakers to see if the problem moves with the suspected bad one.

THIS. cross check to isolate the issue to the spaker or amp. it could be that u badly damaged the amp section for that particular speaker out on your receiver. This is rather unusual because most modern receivers have a protection mode that limits wattage in order stop overdriving. but such safeguards can only do so much; if it was being driven for hours, it could have easily been damaged.

I am currently using Outlook 2011 on my 2010 MBA 11" (pop account) - today I ordered a new 2011 iMac which will become my main work machine for email, but I will still need to use the MBA for emails when away from the office/travelling etc.

How can I use both machines and keep Outlook 2011 synced i.e. Inbox, sent items on both machines?

I've tried to capture a few of them, but I keep running into timecode breaks on the tapes, and Final Cut Pro stops the capture which is irritating. I just want to capture the tapes in their entirety, I don't need proper time code for editing. On the system settings menu, I changed the one setting to "Warn after capture" if there is a time code break, but it still happens. Is there a better program to use for straight capturing, or perhaps some settings I need to change?
