insbaby05-04 06:00 PMHi my father lost his passport at the airport today and with it his I94 and US B1 visa. We do have scanned copies of his US Visa and Passport. I would appreciate any pointers on the following question -

1. What are my next steps?
2. I figured from browsing few sites that he needs to apply for I94 - does any one know of any vague ETA there?
3. Would he have to go through his visa stamping again?

There are few steps you have to follow:

1. As the previous post says, report to the nearest police station and get the number.

2. Find which consulate gives service to your state from this URL http://www.indianembassy.org/newsite/consultates.asp

3. Go to their website, and there is an emergency number/lost passport number, call and inform them.

4. You have to fill up the application forms (they will guide you), includes the scanned copies of the old passport and proper fees, overnight to them.
They will process it and issue either a new passport or temporary passport to your father in a quick period of time. It may not be in a week, but surely won't take more than a month.

5. Inform USCIS the same and get guidance from them.

The only issue you have during this process is, he may not be able to travel within US without proper photo ID. You should be ok within your city as he is senior.

Always keep the copy of the scanned passport at hand when going out.

samswas06-22 12:55 PMMy H1B extension got approved few weeks back and H1 extension is starting from 09/24/10.
My current H1b visa was expired last year around Oct 1st. I have an urgency to go to india this week and my new h1-b extension is not effective yet.

My question is if I got for visa stamping sometime around July then can I present my H1b extension approval which has not started yet to visa officer and get a visa stamp based on that.
Because its start date is 09/24 so do I need to wait till that date before re-entering.

What if I use my current H1 which expires on 09/23/2010 ? Is it possible for visa officer to consider both current H1 and new extension to give me a visa.

If I'm in your situation, I would do this ----------

Get the stamping in India. This is by showing your current H1B which is valid until 9/2010. At the port of entry, show your new H1B, and get I-94 until validity of your new H1B.

billu08-23 08:47 PMH4 visa is the worst possible visa in the world.anytime you file for a h4 visa, there is no premium processing and it usually takes 4-6 months for approval. you cannot work on h4 visa and you are dependent on your spouse. as soon as possible, switch to F1 visa. benefits of F1 visa:

she will have her own status (in future, god forbid, if you lose ur job, you can always stay in US on F2 until you find another job)

she can earn on-campus (20hrs/week) and can have a SSN

after graduation, she will get OPT which will allow her to work immediately after graduation

Some Univs also offer CPT after 9 months of enrollment on which you can work fulltime if your schedule allows (several of my friends started working full time on CPT and took online/weekend courses)

you can get ALL in-state benefits on F1 that you would on H4. as long as you can demonstrate that she has been in the state for more than 6 months/1 year (depending on the state)

Get rid of h4 as soon as possible. that is the worst visa which has kept thousands of professional well qualified persons jobless for years!!

I am planning to go from New York to New Delhi after 2-3 months and exploring options. Recently someone I know came from India and paid only 1.5 Lakh rupees for 5 tickets. He could get a good deal because he knew the travel agent.

This shows the huge margins these travel agents and travel insurance agents have. Travel insurance purchased in USA does not even consider pre existing conditions ( their terms and conditions are confusing) and getting them to pay your bills is a big pain. So I can understand why travel agents and travel insurance agents make so much money and can advertise everywhere on TV and websites in USA.

So please share experience and suggest a good website or agent who can give a great deal to me. Do not reply if you are an agent. I am looking for experiences from customers.

This is the only query as stated in the 221(g) form got from Chennai embassy for your reference.
"State Unemployment Wage Reports, showing all wages paid to each employee in the state, for the past two quarters as filed to State of California (This should not be payroll reports, but the actual forms filed to the State authorities listing each employee and wages paid during the quarter.)"

Could you please provide me the exact form name and number to submit through the dropbox. Also some explanation if possible on how the form will look like in order to track it down?

Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.

To get an approximate date using the online case status search for the file number in the approximate range as yours. For Eg. if you card # is EAC 07 043 52343 - then the center is Vermont, Filed in Fisical year 07 ( Oct -06 - Sep 07) 043 is the 43rd working day in FY07 and 52343 is the case number.

Hope this helps.

One says, I can only remove my Future employer "X", who has filed for my GC, and carry my Priority Date , AFTER I get new PERM and new I140 from the new company.

Other one says, don't worry just move to new Employer and I don't need to refile PERM and I140.

Both lawyers are mentioned over 10 times on this web-site and both are VERY reputed.

I have NEVER worked for employer X, It was a future position and I may still join them.
I have approved 140 and 485 is pending for about 9 months.
EAD is approved and so is AP.


Please help guys!

you probably will be refered for specialist evaluation and then cleared after that. donot worry, scars does not equate to acive TB.

The company B was not doing good and for safety sake applied GC in company A also
