plongwait12-07 03:51 PMHi Everyone,
We r in a totally confused state of H1,H4,Visa & passport. I would be very gr8ful if u can help.
The thing is my husbnad is on H1 & me on H4.
His H1 was getting expired in Jan07 & has been extended till May08.
His passport is getting expired in Sep07(the 10yrs validity will be over & we will need to get a new passport plz mind new not renewed).
We r going to India in Jan-Feb07 & would like to get the Visa stamped there. Now the US consulate says that you present a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of anticipated stay in the U.S. i.e May08 in our case.
Questions:-
1) To take an appointment in India we need to get the HDFC bar code, for which we need to present the copy of first page of passport. Can we take an appoinment on the basis of old passport & then carry both the old & new passport at the time of interview?
If yes, on which passport will we get the stamp? If only the old passport then do we need to take another appointment later to get the new passport stamped.
2) Do we need to take seperate appointment for my husband & me to get the stamping done in India ?
3) Will appointment be available in Feb or we r too late ?
We have not yet sent the application for new passport. Not getting a clear cut solution for this situation we even wrote to the US consulate but no relevant reply.Plz suggest what is to be done.
Thanx in advance.:)
Thsi is my suggestion based on the personal experience. May be it's helpful t o you.
You can get your new passport in USA from your nearest Inidan Consulate. The form is very simple - may take just a few hours fill. Indian consulate takes about a week to get the new passport.
I have got new passport (after 10 years of expiry) for whole of my family from Indian Cosulate at San Francisco in 7 days. This process is really simple. As the Visa appointment dates in India are available at short notice, you may have enough time to get new passport and then ask for Visa appointment if you apply for the passport in next few days.

bajjuri7703-27 10:39 AMTo answer your questions:
1. Transfer from H4 to F1 is very straight forward and you can do it yourself. I did the same for my wife.
2. You need to show 1 yr expenses in your account.
3. One year should be fine.
4. If your parents want to fund her study, then you have list them as one of the sponsor and then show the money in the bank.

upuaut08-09 02:35 AMIn Flash you mean?
Usually breaking things apart relates to groups of object and sometimes even to movie clips themselves, but you certainly can break apart an imported graphic, I actually do it all the time.
a good example would be if you were going to use a picture as a fill. I did this in the following example
http://www.centerspin.com/flashEarlyYears/dialsplash.swf
I needed the stone texture I was using to rotate with the dial. I found that it looked best using the picture as a fill for the dial. I had tried to create a circular png outside of flash for some time.. that way I could do transparency on the pic and just rotate it in flash.. but it never looked right, and the file size was huge. By breaking apart a jpg, I could use just what I wanted from it, leaving the holes in the pic up to flash to produce.

veni00102-03 02:41 PMThere's thousands of threads that talk about porting. I don't think there's any need to re-iterate those topics again.
Specially from the crappy source you had provided.
One word worth millions, so you are more than welcome to say what ever you want to!
But, when we say something is wrong we should know what is right in the first place, we are more than happy to accept the truth, if you can share with us.
Like it or not reality is tough to digest almost all the time. Let's hope our brothers and sisters will not fall prey to the evil employer(s):(

amsgc04-05 04:07 PMSunil,
I suggest you use the most recent A# on your I-485, and relax.
The USCIS adjudicator has access to all the information s/he needs. They can use your Name/DOB/Citizenship etc. to find out all the A#s that have ever been assigned to you. In case there is a need to change or assign a new A#, they will figure it out.
Good luck!

jasmin4506-06 09:35 AMThis is what I got from the below link
http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/...0News/2359471/
Chairman of the Asian Pacific American Caucus, Rep. Michael Honda, will hold a press conference on Thursday, June 4, at 12:00 p.m. on Cannon Terrace, or in case of rain Cannon House Office Building Room 441, to present key components of a comprehensive immigration package, in preparation for President Obama's reform agenda. Joining the Congressman will be other Members of Congress and supporting advocacy organizations. Rep Honda will discuss his Reuniting Families Act, to be introduced in Congress this week, and the need to reform America's family-based immigration system to end lengthy separations of loved ones, promote family stability and foster the economic growth that immigrant families have provided throughout our history.
Provisions related to Employment based Greencards:
*Recaptures unused family-based and employment-based visas previously allocated by Congress which remain unused.
* Increases the per country limits of family and employment-based visas from 7% to 10%: Right now, each country only has a 7% share of the total cap of visas that Congress allocates each year. Increasing each country's percentage of visas would eliminate the absurdly long wait times for individuals to immigrant from certain countries like the Philippines, China, and India.
This bill is similar to S 1085 introduced in the Senate with regard to employment-based visa provsions - basically recapture and increase per country limits from 7 to 10%
This report has been removed from that site.. :)

kukitron10-03 03:10 PMHello,
My wife is applying for a good job at the European Union, and I do not see why can't she get accepted. We've been stuck in this mess for a while and I am getting tired of irrespectful treatment when entering the country, even when you are here legally, limited career, etc,etc
We can legally work in Europe, but how is the market in Belgium for an electrical engineer (firmware, hardware, project manager exp)?
Anybody have any experience or know something about it? salaries, cost of live, etc
Regards

amsgc06-20 12:57 AMmy knowledge is also limited...
but from my J1 days this is what i understood:
J1 is NOT a dual intent visa.
All J1 have some requirements to fulfill before applying for GC
For physicians it is a 2 yr Home requirement OR underserved area practice
For researchers etc a No objection is needed from the home country for a waiver
Therefore you cannot file for adjustment of status while still on a J1 unless you have the relevant waiver. It will certainly be rejected.
Physicians who get a waiver move to an H1 during their 3 year practice requirement. The NIW is a special case here, 485 filing is permitted but no approval till 5 years are over.
hope that's helpful.
That helps, Paskal. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Regards
Ams

anilsal06-14 11:43 PMCan i travel out of the country after applying my 485 ,EAD and APO . My I 140 was already approved and I applied for 3 year H1B ext based on that petition ( bumped to premium this week ) .
Any advise
Thanks
Adde
You have to make a decision on whether you want to use the EAD or continue on H1B. It is dependent on how much risk you want to take. On EAD, you are free to do anything (like extra work/income etc) but lose out if your 485 app gets denied. With H1B, you have to get stamping done at a consulate for travel.

ebizash05-01 05:13 PMI think if you never entered on a non-immigrant visa (in your case H1) after overstaying previous Non-immigrant visa (F1), you could still be in trouble. My understanding is that they wan to see your continued legal presence and maintenance of status from your last entry thru the day when you applied I-485. If the only time you entered US since Jan 2003 is on AP then you might be in trouble.
This is based on my reading up other posts on IV and may not be accurate.

4move10-19 10:25 PMOne of my family member went through this, in a routine medical exam (this was not for immigration office) and he referred us to a infectious disease control specialist. After chest x-rays and several other tests the specialist mentioned that tb screening test can be positive some times for BCG vaccination or exposure to TB bacteria from a person who has active TB. This is not a disease (called latent tb), but there is 5% chance that it could develop into a active TB disease (in case the positive was because of exposure to TB bacteria. Initially, he prescribed Isoniazid (300mg), which has severe lever side effects, for 9 months with blood exam to monitor lever function. But, she could not tolerate this medicine even for 5days because of several other side effects (lever funtion test was normal though). Then he switched her to Rifamfin (600mg) for 4 months. There was not any noticeable side effects of this, and level function tests was after 2 weeks for the first time and once in two months after that. But one thing to note that TB screen test would be +ve rest of the life after this and you need to carry a certificate from this physican that you have completed this course of medicine and nothing needs to be done. Hope this helps.
Can anyone point me to any documentation for physicians that suggests repeated follow-ups even after the medical report has been signed, sealed and submitted to the immigration office?
As with a lot of applicants from India, I tested positive for tuberculin because of the type of immunization we receive and had the requisite skin test and chest x-rays done. After this the doctor signed the medical report and gave me the sealed envelope. He has then put me on a 6-month medication program for tuberculosis. The medication is quite strong and is supposed to affect the liver. He also wants me to come in on a regular basis (and spend $80 every time) to get blood work done to "make sure the medication is in my blood stream".
I am not sure why I am being put on this medication for such a long period as I don't have tuberculosis. When I questioned my doctor, he said it was necessary - not giving any more details.
Have others gone through such an experience? Am I a source of residual income for his office?
Thanks in advance,
V
